Challenge: A major aircraft engine supplier was developing a high-temperature engine component. They combined three previously machined sheet metal and welded components into a single-piece cast design. This highly complicated design's application also required significant fatigue resistance and enormous strength requirements. The design needed to be lightweight and include extremely thin wall sections for any type of casting process.

The design took full advantage of Stork Kelch's suppliers thin-wall casting technology to produce a cast part nearly as thin as the former sheet metal assembly, all at a much reduced price per piece.
