Challenge: A recognized leader in diesel engine manufacturing internally developed a fuel injector component which combined a three-part assembly into a single design. While this resulted in a component more suited for the application and easier to assemble, the design presented many manufacturability issues.
Solution: Stork Kelch was brought in to assist the customer in identifying a feasible and cost-effective manufacturing process. This particular part has extremely thin wall sections and required multiple part numbers to be machined out of a single casting to micron tolerances. Stork Kelch and its investment casting principal worked hand-in-hand with the customer to develop both a producible casting design and best-practice machining operations.
Our principal's ability to provide a "turnkey" end product to the customer and Stork Kelch's ability to support the program internally both lead to a successful launch and manufacture of this complex design.
